Building Characters
I am currently writing a short story and this is the character I came up with:
This is how I imagined my character looking like, I happened to find a similar image to what I had in mind in my head on Pinterest.
Character’s Name: Ludmilla Kovacevic
Who is your character Physically? Ludmilla is a strong headed 17-year-old girl, living in in the
1800s who has a hard time following the rules they had set for women and
young girls back then. A lot of people saying she’s just like her mother who
was a princess that was thrown out of her family palace for disobeying the
palace rules and was also known to be stubborn and free-spirited. Often
feeling misunderstood and lonely with her mother dying when she was just a
little girl, she often wonders how life would be if she was around, and how
it would feel like to be “free” without any rules and people trying to decide
her day to day life.
What do they look like? Physically? She was tall, skinny with her body shaped like an hourglass. Her
eyes were emerald green, they sparkled like the universe. She had golden
brown skin, and her hair was a darker shade of brown almost black. Her wild
curls curled in random directions framing her face and making her hair look big
and messy. She wore a white embroidered top with puffed shoulders, long beige
skirt and her favorite brown boots that were scruffy at the front.

What is your character doing? Ludmilla is about to be sent to her uncle’s house to get married
off after her father looses a lot of money, her uncle ends up persuading him
to marry off his two youngest daughters to a prince. Ludmilla tries to find
anyway possible to not let this happen. As she sits in the carriage, she
looks out and thinks of ways to escape. She thinks of faking a serious
illness and jumping out of the carriage and sprinting.

What is your character feeling? At first Ludmilla feels this big sense of anger. 7 of her sisters
were allowed to get married to whoever and whenever they wanted. Ludmilla
always thought that she would have the same faith as her sisters, but this
wasn’t the case. Even though Ludmilla feels like her father is being
extremely unfair. She later sees a different view of things. after knowing
her father’s situation later on she sorts of feels guilty in a way. On one
hand she wants to rebel and make thinks harder for her family, and on the
other hand she just wants to make her father happy. |
