Looking Back
This week we are coming down to the final steps in our research project. Because the week before was such a busy week, we ended up leaving everything last minute. This meant we had to put in a lot of work, time, and effort to get this project finished properly.
Our task this week was to get the video completed and then uploaded on youtube so that we can present it to the class in the following week. We only had our research and video down so we still needed to:
Find a location to record our video
Edit the video
Upload the finishing product onto youtube
And we had just one week. It was very possible to do so however, the problem was that none of us knew how to edit or upload a video onto youtube. This week consisted of mostly just trying to figure things out (which was very stressful).
Location
The first step was asking one of our tutors to borrow a camera from our school, once we had our camera it was time to begin our recording process. We started by gathering ideas and looking at locations to film. Rys emailed Irene our introduction to digital media class tutor and she informed us that anywhere in the college campus was accessible to film. We decided to settle on one of the computer labs as we felt as though the environment fit our topic well.
Recording
Now that we had our location sorted we had to now start recording our video. Due to being unwell for that entire week, I missed out on the opportunity to film with the guys. Aiden however suggested that I record my part of the script from home and send it on the social media group chat, which quickly resolved the issue.
Editing and uploading
The next step was editing. Again none of us was familiar with this and had very little experience within this field. Roibeard kindly volunteered to take on the role of editing and then upload it onto youtube once it was done. At this point, we only had less than 24 hours left so it had to be done quickly. The rest of us had to wait patiently and help with any queries he had via our group chat.
The editing process didn't take as long as we anticipated (which is good), however, the whole process of getting it uploaded onto youtube took a lot of time. But we got it uploaded in the end and we were happy with the final result.
I really enjoyed working with my group. Even though we had some communication issues at the start we were able to move past that and everyone started to pull their weight and help each other out. This project has taught me how to communicate better and be patient. Through that, I learned some teamwork skills that I wish to apply in my future assignments whether I'm working independently or in a team environment.
