Introduction

 

Hello all, my name is Christelle (mostly referred to as Chrissy) a 20 year old student in TUD (Technological University Dublin) studying Creative Digital Media. Firstly, I would like to welcome you all to my blog where I plan to not only share my ideas and experiences but to inspire others but to focus and discuss different types of topics as part as my digital media course.

 

How I got here

As a young girl I have always been so interested in writing, designing, creating etc (specifically writing short stories, novels, poems, film scripts and drawing and crafting). It was something I did as a hobby in my free time, so I already knew I wanted to do something like that as a career when I finish secondary school.

After I left school, I took a year off to really focus on my plans for the future. I later joined a QQI level 5 creative writing course in Colaiste Dhulaigh College for a year. Although I struggle a lot academically with having a learning disability, I really enjoyed the course. I was able to not only grow my knowledge but also share my ideas with others without feeling shy or embarrassed.

Which is what I want to be able to carry onto this course.

 

Hopes for the future

During this course I wish to excel in my knowledge and learn new things I didn’t know previously. I think that’s why college is important because you may think you know alot when there’s so much out there in the world. I would also like use this time to be able to use my creative mind and space to create something amazing and find new ideas.

So far when I leave college, I would love to go into film production as a producer or a script writer. Going into animation and creating video games will also be really cool.

This week we are coming down to the final steps in our research project. Because the week before was such a busy week, we ended up leaving everything last minute. This meant we had to put in a lot of work, time, and effort to get this project finished properly.  Our task this week was to get the video completed and then uploaded on youtube so that we can present it to the class in the following week. We only had our research and video down so we still needed to: Find a location to record our video Edit the video Upload the finishing product onto youtube And we had just one week. Starting Out

This week we are introducing project blogs. My class and I have been asked to create a group project following a social issue of our choice, and to document our journey through this process. For this project, I am working with Aiden Kelly, Rhys Mc Carthy, and Roibeard Mac Cumascaigh from my group 3 Introduction to Digital Media class.  We have been asked to cover the topic of misinformation and disinformation in the media. I personally think that this is a very interesting topic seeing as it's one of those subjects that is commonly discussed yet rarely understood.  This subject goes into dept on the misleading, confusing and false information in the media that we had to face for decades now, even before the internet was introduced to the world. It talks about the differences between misinformation vs disinformation, the different ways and methods used by the media and government to convince the minds of its passive audience and it also discusses the dangers this can lead to. Peer Review 2

Peer Review 2 This week we did another peer review for our Introduction to Digital Media reading task. I truly learned a lot this time around when it came to the blogs I was giving feedback to. Not only was I able to reflect on my own blog based on the feedback I was giving, but it also gave me the opportunity to look at different writing styles and opinions.    Reading Katie's blog really gave me a clear idea on how to express my points while keeping things short and simple, the way that she was able to state her opinions well and then move on to the next topic quickly was amazing and something I realized I needed to learn how to do.    While reading Kailan's blog I noticed how everything was well thought out and planned.  Her blog was very clear when it came to messaging, opinions and examples.
