Peer Feedback 1
I have always felt as though I could never give anyone feedback because I thought I lacked so much. This was my first time giving peer feedback, so when I was asked to do it as part of my reading task I was flooded with so much anxiety. Not only was I in fear of being judged I also didn't want to “give the wrong advice” or sound cooky. As dramatic as that all sounds, this led me to leave it until the last minute.
However, that was not the case at all and I ended enjoying it. I was given two blogs from two different colleagues to give feedback on, and from these vlogs, I was able to learn so much from not only their point of view on certain things but also a bit about them as people. Both posts thought me how to be more expressive, with one talking about the LGBTQ+ community and the other one sharing her struggles.
It was great to see that I was not the only one with struggles and how we all want to just do well in the end. This made me realize how we are all in the same boat and how we can use this opportunity to help each other out. My goal was not to sound harsh or fake but to be honest, kind, and helpful.
The feedback that I had received was very helpful. They gave positive opinions and clearly explained where I lacked in certain areas. I now know and understand that I need to include more images in my post to give a more visual image on my points and I also need to expand on my topics more.
Overall this was a great experience, I learned a lot from both receiving and giving feedback that I wish to apply later on. I would like to continue this in the future.
